Henrietta lives!

As with anything I write here; you should be aware I may post spoilers. This is all largely for my benefit. Read on with caution. “the immortal life of Henrietta Lacks” was a tremendous read. It couples a very personal story with some significant science and a broad swathe of american social history. The issues dealt with are very thought provoking and ultimately lie with the very nature of our ” rights” or otherwise over our body tissues. The personal story of Henrietta and her family makes this book a much more approachable work. I have read about HeLa cells time and again and I had no idea , not even an inkling of, the origin of those cells. This book sets the matter straight. We all owe a debt of gratitude to this poorly known character, and there is no doubt that her gift to science is at least equal to any Nobel prize winner.
