Remarkable

I thought I had written something, but clearly I had not. This book is superb. It has a gentle, almost poetic, style and it leads you through two very different landscapes. One is a northern city street in summer and the other is the emotional landscape of a woman who shares a common bond to that street and city.  We share intimate details with the inhabitants of the street, their secrets, their lives and their feelings. We look at the scene from so many angles but inevitably we are drawn to one point and one event. It is utterly captivating and as perfect a piece of prose as could be imagined.
