A perfectly well rounded but otherwise fairly plodding procedural from the pen of Stephen booth. It was a neat touch to add equal weight to the two main storylines. There was also a nice parallel between these.

DS Fry is called back to Birmingham to get involved with a potential prosecution in her own assault case. In this she discovers a truth which is a lot more shocking than the original attack. DS cooper is back in Derbyshire getting more than a little involved with a seemingly accidental death. The premise for this is actually very realistic and I had no problem in getting into the story.

It’s alright – I won’t put it on my “read again” list but it passes the time and is an easy filler!
