It would appear that I am having a “nights drawing in” and “ghostly tales by the fire” sort of season. This book is very well done and although aimed at a younger audience does not fail to deliver heaps of atmosphere and tension. The characters are nicely balanced and the plot well crafted. I guess the only way you can tell that it is for younger readers is in the way that certain things are flagged from so far away that you have no real surprises. This does not however detract from the book and it is superb.
