Classics are class?

I enjoyed this classic detective novel. It was evocative of the era, well executed, if a little predictable, and sufficiently complex to keep the reader entertained. If anything, I thought it a little ahead of its time. There were elements of the process of detection which seemed almost ‘modern’ and in the end it all hung on some quite detailed technicalities which I found surprising given the age of the book.
